CCEH Hydro VI
In accordance with Order #2-939 of the Minister of Environment and Agriculture of Georgia, Levan Davitashvili, dated by June 25, 2021, CCEH Hydro VI has moved to the environment impact assessment phase for the Bakhvi 1 HPP Project to be constructed on the Bakhvistskali river with installed capacity 12 MW and annual generation 50 million kWh.
We would like to state that CCEH Hydro VI, as a highly responsible company, has been operating in full compliance with both the Georgian legislation and regulations and IFC and EIB environmental and social management standards. It is our vision that we provide the projects not only with the required funding but also ensure their enrichment with international and particularly European experience related to the construction of hydropower plants. For each project we develop a vision and strategy to generate both financial return and attain non-monetary success, which is the basis of our investment philosophy.
And this philosophy, for the most part, implies achievement of positive results in management of environmental and social issues. That is why, at this phase of environmental impact assessment, alongside the studies required by the Georgian legislation, we engage in additional activities. We have concluded an agreement with the world-renowned consulting company, SLR. Its UK Office is engaged in the biodiversity study and will develop not only the biodiversity report but also the plan for mitigating measures. Additionally, CCEH Hydro VI has invited a French consultant, Pierre Biedermann, to develop a report on climate change. Also, we are planning to conduct cumulative impact assessment. And as for the project feasibility study, the world-renowned company, AFRY, is working on it.
CCEH Hydro VI company's goal is to make Bakhvi 1 Project equally acceptable for each stakeholder group. Our communication model with the stakeholders is based on the dialogue and through this model we have had meetings with local residents, regional and central non-governmental organizations, and the media. In the nearest future, the consultations and dialogue model will transform into a new format, which implies formation of advisory council to be composed of mostly competent representatives of the local stakeholders. This is, on its part, yet another manifestation of company's preparedness to proceed with study process at the stage of environmental impact assessment with full transparency.
It is our goal to introduce global experience and instill European standards in the construction of small hydropower plants in Georgia.
