Waste Collection Event in Bakhmaro

On September 26, 2021, on the initiative of the Bakhvi 1 Hydropower Plant Project implementing company CCEH HYDRO VI, the company staff members together with the members of the Advisory Board for the Bakhvi 1 Hydropower Plant working of the environmental and social issues, representatives of CENN, social enterprise "3D Workshop" and other civil society organizations organized a waste collection event in the Bakhmaro resort area. The locals also joined the event.

About 30 volunteers for several hours collected waste on the plateau adjacent to the Chokhatauri-Bakhmaro road and in the area in Bakhmaro adjacent to the so-called "Bazaar," which totals the area of one hectare.

The goal of this event was to, on the one hand, collect waste in some parts of Bakhmaro, and on the other hand, raise environmental awareness and correct environmental management.

Within the Bakhvi 1 Hydropower Plant Project, very often we travel to Ozurgeti and Chokhatauri municipalities. As you know, we engage in regular meetings with various stakeholders and visit Bakhmaro among other sites. We thought that the end of the tourist season would be a good period to clean the areas of Bakhmaro frequented by visitors during the season. We came up with the initiative and organized this event. This day is a good example of unity of the individuals who are passionate about the same idea. I am happy we did it, as members of different organizations stepped up and joined forces to collect waste in the preselected areas.
