13 April, 2022

On April 13, 2022, the first meeting in the series of informal training courses was held for high school students (grades 9, 10, 11 and 12) of the village Mtispiri public school, Ozurgeti Municipality, within the framework of the social program educational projects announced by Bakhvi 1 Hydropower Plant. The course aims to raise environmental awareness in Mtispiri Public School senior students, as well as share knowledge about the renewable energy concepts and provide information on career orientation issues.

Giorgi Berechikidze, Head of the Forest Protection Division of the LEPL Forest Maintenance and Restoration Agency of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, will lead the module Basics of Environmental Protection and Renewable Energy; Ketevan Lobzhanidze, psychologist, founder of the Insight" group and HR manager, will talk about career orientation. Career orientation is especially needed for senior students and aims to help entrants to choose wisely a right future career; the meeting on communications will be conducted by Khatuna Iosava, Public Relations Expert, Invited Lecturer at Caucasus University since 2015. As part of the communication lecture, the youths will learn a lot about the media and its role and function in society and how to distinguish a real story from the fake or fictional ones.

The training course is part of informal education and includes six training courses and a trip to an operating hydropower plant at the end of the school year where students will see the generating facility and learn about specific features of its operation.

"When we talk about a developed village, which should become a prerequisite for a successful country, we first of all mean the educated future generation. That is why our social program includes educational projects aimed at the young generation, as well as teachers employed in this sector. I think we have prepared an interesting training course for the youths from Mtispiri and I have high hopes that they will learn a lot about both environmental protection and renewable energy. This will equip them with knowledge on how to care about nature, what they should protect environment from and how and why it is required to efficiently consume electricity and why it is important to construct eco-friendly generation facilities in terms of development of the country," says David Mikeladze, Project's ESG Manager.

Bakhvi 1 Hydropower training courses for senior students will continue until the end of the semester and scheduled to be renewed in September 2022. From September, courses will be held in the Chkhakaura village public school of Chokhatauri municipality as well.

Bakhvi 1 Hydropower plant on the river Bakhvistskali is a planned run-of-river project carried out by CCEH Hydro VI LLC.
