Tree Planting Event in Chokhatauri

On May 4, 2022, at 16:00, a tree planting event was held in Chokhatauri. As part of the event, different varieties of decorative evergreen and deciduous saplings were planted in three areas: in front of the Chokhatauri Municipality building, adjacent Krimanchuli Square and near the Chokhatauri Culture House.

This event is a joint campaign of Chokhatauri Municipality and Bakhvi 1 Hydropower Plant, which was planned and implemented within the framework of the environmental component of the Bakhvi 1 Hydropower Project.

The mayor of Chokhatauri, Davit Sharashidze, along with his staff, and the director of Bakhvi 1 Hydropower Plant, Mikheil Nibladze, along with other members of the management, took part in the Chokhatauri tree planting event.

"I am glad that today we had the opportunity to implement the first project in Chokhatauri within the environmental component. As you know, our social program has kicked off with educational projects. In terms of environmental protection, we are opening the season with this event. In the message we send a key word is care, including care for people, environment and development of the region. We believe that protecting the environment is one of the most important things a person can do. This is what we are teaching young people as part of our training, which is currently underway at Mtispiri Public School and in which Chkhakaura Public School will engage from September. Environmental protection and significance of renewable energy are invaluable in what we can do for ourselves and the next generation," said Mikheil Nibladze, Bakhvi 1 Hydropower Plant Project Director.

The tree planting event was held as part of the International Earth Day, which in turn is celebrated annually on April 22 around the world.
